Browser Requirements
Rubin Education is compatible with the following browsers. We recommend using the latest version for the best experience:
- Google Chrome (recommended)
- Microsoft Edge
- Mozilla Firefox
- Apple Safari (Mac / iOS)
Other browsers may function with the Rubin Education platform but have not been fully tested. If your district uses a browser not listed here and would like compatibility testing, please contact your Rubin Education account representative.
Operating System Requirements
Rubin Education is compatible with most internet-connected devices capable of running a modern web browser, including devices running the following operating systems:
- Windows 8 or newer
- macOS X 10.5 or newer
- Android (latest version)
- iOS (latest version)
Because Rubin Education is fully web-based, no software installation is required. All platform features — including Spark simulations, Aspire career videos, and Emerge curriculum — are accessible directly through a supported browser.
Device Compatibility
Refer to the chart below to review device compatibility across the Rubin Education platform:
| Device Type | Rubin Education Compatibility |
| Chromebooks | Compatible — full platform access |
| Windows Desktops & Laptops | Compatible — full platform access |
| Apple Desktops & Laptops (macOS) | Compatible — full platform access |
| iPads & Tablets | Compatible — full platform access |
| Smartphones (student access) | Compatible — optimized for mobile use |
Bandwidth Requirements
For optimal performance, we recommend the following bandwidth allocations per concurrent user:
- Video streaming (Aspire career exploration content): 50–150 Kbps per user
- Spark AI simulations and interactive activities (non-video): significantly lower bandwidth required
- Assessment and curriculum access only: minimal bandwidth
| Tip for IT Administrators: If students are completing assessments, Spark simulations, or other non-video activities, bandwidth requirements are significantly lower than during Aspire video streaming sessions. We recommend coordinating with teachers to plan video-heavy sessions during off-peak network usage times. |
