Why Leaders Need to Look Up and Down at the Same Time
Leaders need to stare into the horizon and down at their feet at the same time.
Good thing we have two eyes to share the load.
Let me explain. A leader must look out, see the potential and imagine what could be — even when others only see a distant sky and nothing more.
At the same time, the leader must maintain one eye squarely on the ground below. That’s because, to achieve the grand vision off in the distance, the person must toil in the work. One foot in front of the other, day after day.
Take your eye off the ground, and you’re destined to tangle your feet.
Do you have lofty ambitions for your career? Remember to look up and down.
It’s the only way to turn a dream into a reality.
