11 Questions Successful People Instinctively Ask
Wichita State men’s basketball coach Gregg Marshall can do no wrong.
Marshall recently led his Shockers to a perfect 31-0 regular season, the first team to accomplish the feat since St. Joe’s in 2004. He also took Wichita State to the NCAA Final Four in 2013.
With so much going right, why would the bespectacled coach ever need to ask for advice?
Because even at our greatest moments, we still have work to do. [tweet this]
In a recent interview with Hall of Fame coach Bobby Knight, who now works for ESPN, Marshall turned the tables and asked the interviewer a question about his Wichita State squad:
“What do we need to do to get better?”
Watch the 30-second interview clip for Bobby Knight’s answer.
Impressive, right? Marshall knows Wichita State must smooth out any rough edges before the NCAA tournament.
Oh yea. March Madness is upon us! Get ready for more epic moments like the Laettner shot and VCU reaching the Final Four.
Similar to a piece I wrote called 19 Things You are 100% Capable of Doing Right Now, we all have the ability to ask these 11 questions to someone we respect at work.
Like Coach Marshall, the answers may just take you from good to great.
1. “How can I get better?”
2. “Can you review what I just wrote and tell me how it can be stronger?”
3. “Be honest. Is this any good?”
4. “Do you have time for me to ask you a few questions?”
5. “Can you help me with something? I’d like your input.”
6. “Do you mind if I practice this speech in front of you? Tell me what you think.”
7. “So…how did I do?”
8. “Thanks for the compliment. Now tell me: what could I have done to make it even greater?”
9. “Which parts of my presentation could I do without?”
10. “What would you have done differently?”
11. “Lay it on me. Whaddya think?”
